Productivity

Normally in the mornings I catch up on Twitter, Tumblr, Gmail, Bloglines, Hacker News and Stuff. They’re the essentials, I usually end up following a few links and surfing the web for the next hour.

This morning I didn’t have time for that. I got out of bed and headed straight down to campus for Course Confirmation. Course Confirmation was a traumatic experience, it involved much queueing and lengthy explanations of how competent I am.

In these queues I read all new tweets from the previous 12 hours. I read my Tumblr dashboard. I read Hacker News, Stuff and TechCrunch. My Sony Ericsson k800i isn’t designed for web surfing but it managed ok.

By the time I got back I’d already skim read my typical mornings reading. I was focused and ready to work, which I did.

Starting off focused is really important for me. I’m going to try and replicate this mornings productivity by fitting more websurfing into dead times. A ten minute break halfway through a lecture is the perfect time to read a few blogs or check details for upcoming events.
