The big reveal

As I’ve alluded to previously I’ve been building a website. It’s finally ready.

Cooked.co.nz

Cooked is a place to learn to cook and then show off your cooking skills.

My aim with Cooked was to learn how to build a web service. I didn’t just want to learn Ruby on Rails or CSS, I wanted to learn everything. This is still ongoing, many challenges lie ahead. As I discovered with StationaryStationery in Summer School, building an online community isn’t easy.

I said the site is ready, but it’s not complete. If there are no significant bugs I should be launching some awesome new features in the next 2 weeks.

<TECHNICAL>

Cooked is written in Ruby on Rails on Ubuntu. I’m using a bunch of cloud computing services: Heroku for hosting, Amazon S3 for image hosting and Google Apps for the mail server.

So check out Cooked and show us what you’ve cooked. If you see any bugs or have any suggestions use the /contact/ form or email me.
